This is an ancient rock, originally a lava flow or similar rock which has been subjected to extreme temperature and pressure during the formation of the Ox Mountains. The stone is collected from boulders transported and dropped by ancient glaciers in the Lurganboy area near Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim.
